This week’s Rivalry game was between ThrowBack Gang and The City. I predicted that The City would win with their passion and new added scoring. One of those came true while the other sat on the bench for most of the game. The City jumped out to an early lead and was up by 9 at one point. Although TBG was struggling they never gave up and continued playing tough, energized defense and were able to pull out a 61-55 win over The City. TBG was led by Brandon “BrandNEW” Harris and his 23pts and 8rebs and although TBG’s other Brandon Harris didn’t shoot well from the field (4-13 from 3pg) he did hit 2 timely 3’s down the stretch. The flabbergasting fact of this game is The City’s use of 4-time Division 1 Champion Prentice Harris. Prentice Harris was added to The City’s roster last week to boost their scoring. Harris averaged 29ppg last season in Division 2 and has a career average of 21.8ppg and was held to a career low 3pts on 1-3 shooting. Now I don’t know who to give the credit to for that, either TBG’s pesky defense or the fact that The City’s GM Josh McMullen only played Harris about 12-14 minutes for the game. Either way, TBG played hard and fast and mustered out a win over The City.

Division 1:
Earlier in the week I predicted SoCal Sonics would beat Beast Tribe “fairly easy” and on Sunday my prediction became a reality. SoCal Sonics demolished Beast Tribe 93-65 led by Kyle Sears’ 26pts, 8reb and 6ast. Beast Tribe was not at full strength with Jason Harris out with a back injury and Chet Johnson MIA. SoCal Sonics definitely look like the team to beat right about now.

Division 2:
My prediction of Arrowhead GOAT beating GrandStand with “unselfishness and efficiency” has me looking like an ancient prophet. While GOAT routed GrandStand 52-31 they were beyond efficient shooting 66% from the field and 73% from 3 point range. I counted 6 straight trips up the floor with over 5 passes, until they hit an open shooter for a high percentage shot. GrandStand on the other hand looked like the junior varsity team. Gary McNellys led the team with 14pts and 5rebs but if you take away his 4-10 shooting, the team shot 22% (6-27) for the game. GrandStand’s two big men, Justin Jerry and Charles “Mr. Floater” Grays were nursing injuries but toughed it out to go a dismal 3-14 from the field. GOAT is looking like the favorite in Division 2 while GrandStand is struggling BIG TIME. I’d like to take this moment to remind everyone that GrandStand was 2-4 last season before rattling off 4 straight wins and a Championship last season, DON’T COUNT THEM OUT!
